Yes, you lose PBR on the character and some facial expressions but if all you are after is the meshes then the CC1.5 format is good enough. As far as I can tell, from iClone 7 you can send to CC2 and then export as CC1.5 character. There is no way to sent a clothing item from iClone 7 to 3DXchange 6 and export that as an obj file for modification in any other software. Iclone 7 and CC 2 are awesome, they really delivered a solid product ( with some issues but still), but 3dx 7 seems so mediocre in comparison.ģDXchange 6 also can not open ANY asset saved in iClone 7 - not even a simple 3dblock. and the worst all of this is because it still runs on an old DX9 engine. if you are lucky because sometimes you have to add manually each damn texture. But then i saw there was no pbr support which is a big deal, and i'm not talking about the visual aspect, i'm talking about the tedious task of importing textures specially if you want a detailed prop, you need to add the base, normal, metallic, and roughness at least, in 3dx when you import stuff it will automatically add at least 3 texture channels, diffuse, bump and opacity. So in my case I said i'll just get iclone, and maybe later i'll get it.
Iclone 6 price pro#
In other words RL told us to buy iclone 7 because it had GI,PBR, IBL, new face key editor, face puppet, python scripting, etc,and had videos and images to back it up. But when it came to 3dx 7 they essentially gave us a comparison chart between 3dx 7 pro vs pipeline and that's pretty much it. The problem is reallusion has done a particularly crappy borderline neglectful ad campaign about 3dx7, mainly the piss poor presentation of the features inside 3dx7, last year when they announced iclone 7 early access they gave a nice tour on what was new in iclone 7, but there was absolutely nothing on 3dx 7 besides the obvious (import and export) there were other features which had no further explanation at all. and often they come out the best, but they only have the right to bear arms while we have the right to bare breasts" Bowser and Blue, Busting The Breast
Iclone 6 price upgrade#
Is there some other significant reason for upgrading from 3DXChange 6 to 7 3DXChange 7? Does anyone know how the version upgrades work? If, for example, I don't upgrade from 3DXChange 6 to 3DXChange 7, when 3DXChange 8 comes around, could I pay the upgrade cost to go from 6 straight to 8 or will I have to pay the full software price because the upgrade price is only from the previous version (e.g. I'm just on a very small budget and thus I'm trying to figure out if I should upgrade to 3DXChange 7 or if I can skip it, for now, and maybe upgrade when 8 comes around. Different people have different requirements and thus some things above that I said "I can live with that" may not be the case for others. Please note that I am not at all saying that the upgrade is not worth it. As such, in my case, I don't see any obvious reason for needing to upgrade to 3DXChange 7.
Similarly content that I import via 3DXChange 6 won't have PBR but once it is in iClone 7 or CC2, I can change the traditional shader to a PBR one and set the PBR properties. So even if I needed to export some meshes from the CC2 character, I can down-convert to a CC1.5 avatar and then bring it into 3DXChange 6. However, CC2 allows you to save Avatars in CC1.5 (iClone 6.53) format (which strips out such features as PBR) but in such a case the avatar can be loaded in 3DXChange 6 for mesh export. The one item that is not listed in the comparison is that 3DXChange 6 does not support CC2 (iClone 7) Avatars.
Is this true? As far as I know, 3DXChange 6 PRO has this option but it is only limited to OBJ file format (as opposed to FBX in Pipeline version).
3DXChange 6 has not support for export content license. 3DXChange 6 has not support for exporting in Alembic format. 3DXChange 6 has not support for e xporting directly from iClone. In my case, I think I can live with that. I can do the morphing for these in CC and push to iClone or re-create the Morph in iClone. 3DXChange 6 has not support for importing Morph Sliders for iProps, iAccessory, iAvatar, via Morph Creator in iClone. 3DXChange 6 has not support for bringing Camera into iClone. The chart indicates the following differences: 1.
Iclone 6 price update#
Looking at the 3DXChange 6 vs 3DXChange 7 comparison chart at the PRO editions and keeping in mind my own requirements it seems to me that, in my case, there is no great need to update to 3DXChange 7. In some cases, I do use it to export OBJ files from Avatars for clothing bases and the like. I currently have 3DXChange 6 PRO and predominately use it for importing my OBJ or FBX files into iClone as well as using it to make Morph Props (which is no longer needed with the Morph Creator in iClone).
